Growing Up Girl –
Award-Winning Short Story Collection by Local Author Now Published

Growing Up Girl (83pp, $12.50), a short story collection written by Mechanicsburg native Anne Greenawalt, received the runner-up prize in Wordclay’s Short Story Collection Contest, a nation-wide writing competition. Anne Greenawalt’s collection is now published.

Underage tattoos. Pagan ceremonies. Electric blue underwear. Food fetishes. Skewed truths and compulsive liars. Statues of Artemis and shields of Medusa. Pancake parties and spaghetti dinners. All of this and more can be found within Greenawalt’s new award-winning collection, which contains six stories of the mysteries, heartaches, embarrassments, victories, and adventures of girlhood.

Anne Greenawalt is a recent graduate of the Master of Arts program in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England. She also studied Creative Writing and Women’s Studies at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. Currently, she’s working on a novel about female athletes in ancient Sparta.
