Going five days without a workout probably wouldn’t kill me, especially because I don’t have any major competitions for several more weeks. Having a bit of a break will probably be good for my body to give it time to heal.
But what I’ve learned about myself is the longer I go without working out, the harder it is to start again, so I don’t want to go a full five days without any exercise.
So I’m going to rely on calisthenics and yoga to get me through the rest of the week because I don’t need any equipment for them—they rely on the weight of your own body to build muscle.
Basic calisthenics exercises include
- Pushups / planks
- Sit ups / crunches / other ab movements
- Squats / lunges
- Dips
- Chin ups / pull ups (if I can find something to hang on in my brother’s house)
I have some yoga videos on my phone, and even if I didn’t I know some basic yoga moves to stay limber.
I hope to get in 10-15 minutes of calisthenics in the mornings before anyone else wakes up. Wish me luck!
